Stayed for 2 nights during the middle of the region's biggest 24 hr snowfall - over 50 cm, so was terrific for snowshoeing which is how we got in and about.

You may also cross-country ski to your accommodations. Park is beautiful with lots of winter snow. Ski trails are groomed very well. Make sure you check in at registration in the parking areas before heading in as they will have valuable tips for getting to your destination. Read up about your wood stove from the instructions provided, as you need to have the air vent open on the bottom for it to work properly. Shelters get extremely toasty and comfortable with the wood stoves going so no need to bring anything more than a sleeping bag.

Be aware they are equipped with battery powered light usually above a table - we didn't realize the first night and it would have been helpful. Be aware that cell phone reception may be a little spotty depending where you are.

So my family and I were heading towards the Casino in Gatineau, and we wanted to drive through the park, enjoy the scenery, and make a few stops at the look out points to take pictures.

Thats where the main visitor's centre is where we stopped by to grab maps and ask about directions. We were short on time, so we really wanted to go to the Champlain look out point, which gives you a beautiful view of the city, the mountains and the Ottawa river from top of a mountain. That view itself was definitely worth the drive. We also stopped by at Kingsmere Lake, which was a decent place to take pictures as well. If you are going to this park during summer, make sure to grab some wild blueberries on the street.

They are delish!!! There were few picnic areas, and I'm sure there were more activities, which I would like to do when I go there with some time. Be careful while driving since there were many serious bikers on the roads.

Summary: It is a beautiful place, definitely worth the visit. Winnipuch Ottawa 2 contributions. A sale person explained to me that the seasonal pass must contain the vehicle plate number. If I rent a car, I have to buy the seasonal pass for every new plate number I drive. The same was confirmed by some supervisor she had called.

As an option, I was offered to leave all my personal information to be passed to some authorities for a special decision which they will think about in some uncertain date. For this summer we went to another parks and lakes where people are not discriminated. Mark S Alton, IL contributions. A beautiful drive and walk in the Fall. We came to the area to visit Ottawa but decided to drive over to Gatineau Park one morning and were very glad we did.

The park is beautiful and the fall colors really made it that much more beautiful. It was great that you can drive to several look out points.

The only disappointment was that the Champlain Lookout was under construction with 6 ft high chain link fence surrounding it.

Obviously made it almost impossible to take pictures. Nonetheless, well worth a visit to this park. SportsJack St. Catharines, Canada 30 contributions. My mom and I spent the day in Gatineau Park in June. Our day was incredible. We stopped at the visitor centre on Scott Street and a very helpful individual provided us with a map and suggested many sites we should see.

We got there not too long before closing time, but had enough time to enjoy tea and treats at the tea room, and check out the museum before it closed. We were able to then walk the rest of the grounds at the Estates after closing. This is the only place where we were required to pay to park, with the rest of the parking being free. Even with that being said, the fee was worth it.

We hiked down to the waterfall and explored the Archway and window to the forest monument. I would definitely recommend a trip here! The park itself is a nature lover's dream. I will definitely return with my road bike, as there are excellent roads for cycling and plenty of trails for mountain bikers, too.
