The Minister may give to the Council directives of a general nature with respect to any of the functions of the Council to comply with such directives or cause them to be complied with.

The validity of any proceedings of the Board or of a CODIQIitteethereof shall not be affected by any vacancy in the membership of the Board or Committee, or by any defect in the appointment of a member of the Board or of a Committee, or by reason that a person not entitled to do so took part in the proceedings of the Board or a Committee. Any-person holding office on a Coaunittee of the Board, who has a personal interest in any contract or arrangement entered into or propoSed to be considered by the CWmnittee shall forthwith disclose his interest to the Committee and shall not vote on any question relating to the contract or arrangement.

At any time while the office of the Chairman is vacant or the Chairman is in the opinion of the Board temporallyunable to perform the fimctionsofbis office,amemberof the Board duly appointed by the Board, with the approval of the Minister, shall perform those functions and reference in this Act to the Chairn.

To transit from the ninth year of the basic education class to the senior secondary, the BECE is conducted for candidates in their third year of the Junior Secondary School. Eighteen subjects are administered at the BECE level. A candidate is expected to sit for a minimum of nine subjects and a maximum of ten.
